OSCAR BUCHER
FILMMAKER • STORYTELLER • PRODUCER
I’m a writer, director, producer and editor working across documentary, branded storytelling and creative production. For agencies, brands and organizations, I build a handpicked team of top-tier writers, filmmakers, photographers and communications specialists for each project, taking ideas from creative development through production, post and final delivery to make something worth watching.

I’ve created work for leading technology, healthcare and enterprise organizations, including Genentech, PayPal, Zynga, Ansys and many others. My work spans documentaries, commercials, branded content, visual campaigns, training films, internal communications and television.

Whatever the format, I start with the same question: what’s the story, and what’s the most compelling way to tell it? I work closely with clients to understand their audience and culture, then shape clear, engaging stories with strong visual ideas and an attention to the details that make the work connect.
Let’s make something great.

Too Much Horror Business
The Kirk Hammett Collection Documentary
Documentary about Metallica Guitarist Kirk Hammett’s new book: "Too Much Horror Business",
which details his massive and unique collection of horror movie memorabilia.
When Kirk Hammett of Metallica approached us about making a commercial for his ESP Nosferatu guitar, we were thrilled at the idea of capturing his epic jams and cutting them into a scene with F. W. Murnau’s 1922 horror masterpiece. It was not without it’s challenges: shooting in widescreen 4K color and cutting together with 4:3 vintage black & white footage, faking eye-lines to create a relationship, matching lighting and more - but we’re thrilled how it came out.
The sound you hear is his actual improvised jam on set - no music was added in post. He’s just that good. And as for the guitar - they sold out the day the video was released.
